Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is the oil corporation through which the federal government of Nigeria regulates and participates in the country’s petroleum industry.

NNPC was established on 1 April 1977 as a merger of the Nigerian National Oil Corporation and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel.

NNPC by law manages the joint venture between the Nigerian federal governmentand a number of foreign multinational corporations, which include Royal Dutch Shell, Agip, ExxonMobil, Total S.A, Chevron, and Texaco (now merged with Chevron).

Through collaboration with these companies, the Nigerian government conducts petroleum exploration and production.

In 2007, the head of the Nigerian wing of Transparency International said salaries for NNPC workers were too low to prevent graft.

Leadership

Dr. Maikanti Baru is the current Group Managing Director (GMD). He was appointed Group Managing Director on July 4th, 2016 under the presidency of Muhammadu Buhari; he succeeded Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the current Nigerian Minister of State, Petroleum.

Requirements for NNPC Recruitment

NNPC

  1. Applicants applying for the NNPC Recruitment must possess any of the following;
  2. Five (5) credit grades in WASC/GCE/SSCE including Maths, English and 3 other relevant subjects obtained in one sitting.
  3. ND, NCE, HND Bachelor’s Degree (BSC) minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in any of the science disciplines listed below.
  4. NYSC Discharge Certificate.
  5. Ability to work with basic computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
  6. Geographical mobility within and outside your state of residence  and some other ones that will be stated on the official portal.

Graduate trainee;

 Applicants for this category should:

Not be more than 28 years of age as at this year of application.

Must have graduated not earlier than 2014

Possesses a Bachelors Degree in either of the following categories:

  1. First Class,
  2. Second Class upper,
  3. Second Class lower With Masters Degree

OR

  • HND (minimum of Upper Credit) with Masters Degree in designated disciplines.

Must have completed NYSC (has an NYSC discharge certificate) or possess NYSC exemption certificate as at when he or she is applying.

Experienced Hires;

”Experienced Hires fall under either the Senior Officer/ Supervisory cadre or Managerial cadre
